What a fabulous weekend for the alumni association! Our new alumni officers were on duty this past weekend at the Fall Foliage event in Chester! The Association officers were there to sell popcorn and balloons and of course to collect membership dues. There were 36 members that paid their 2010-2011 dues and their names were put in the "Early Bird Drawing". IN FACT, your name could be there too if you ACT FAST! One huge new change that the alumni association officers made at the last meeting was the elimination of the back dues fee. So as of now, the dues are simply $10 per year.

Just so you understand the alumni association annual dues and how they work, here's the deal. The fiscal calendar year runs from banquet date to banquet date. For instance, last year's fiscal year was from June 2009 to June 12th, 2010, therefore, we are now in the fiscal year 2010-2011. If you pay your dues for the 2010-2011 year by OCTOBER 31st, your name will go into a drawing to be held at the November Alumni Association Meeting.

EARLY BIRD DRAWING CONTEST consists of the following prizes:
  • Three night stay at a two bedroom cottage at "The Cottages at Summer Village" in Wells, Maine on Memorial Day weekend 2011
  • One night stay at the Grafton Inn & Tavern along with dinner for two at the Old Tavern
  • $100 gift card from Orvis
There are more prizes coming, so stay tuned.
A huge thanks to those of you on the GMUHS Facebook board that sent your dues or simply made a generous donation for last year. Your efforts allowed for a regeneration of our Alma mater. Terry Heikkinen, Class of 1977 and Aurelie Cantwell Haskell, Class of 1977 presented the association with a check for $1,041 on the night of the banquet back in June. Another HUGE thank you goes out to Karl Lauren, Class of 1977 for his time and effort to gather the monies that were donated and for offering his time and service for the next year as the President of our Alumni Association.

The Alumni Day parade next year will be held on:

Saturday, June 11th, 2011
Theme will be Technology/Inventions

Visit the alumni website for all the details and as time goes on the site will be updated with the latest events that will be happening on the weekend, As of now, the plans in the works include the 1st Annual CHS/GMUHS Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday afternoon, the return of the softball and baseball games on Saturday following the parade and a possible horseshoe tournament. All other ideas are welcomed by the association, so please email Karl or myself.
